“Lavender Haze”
Acrylic, spray paint, and resin on wood panel
6x12”
2023
This piece was inspired by Taylor Swift’s song “Lavender Haze”. I am a relatively new Swiftie and this song was one of my favorites once I finally jumped on the bandwagon during her Midnights album release.
I couldn’t stop thinking about creating a hazy lavender background with a bundle of lavender floating on top. I started by creating a lavender gradient with spray paint, and layering resin with translucent white pigment on top. I love how thick this painting turned out, there’s almost an inch of resin layers on it. I think it makes it really fun and playful.
This piece was the first project I started and finished in my new studio and it unblocked a creative dry spell for me! It was so freeing to have the space to experiment, make a mess, and bring an idea to life.
